Football history was made in the summer of 2021. For the first time in the history of the UEFA European Championship, the tournament was held in eleven cities, connecting the whole of Europe with the shared passion of football. As UEFA’s official mobility partner, Volkswagen wanted to offer fans not only a special football experience but also suitable and sustainable mobility in the UEFA EURO 2020TM venues.
With the unique Mobility Shirt, we have created the key to this: A shirt individually designed for each city, which allows the mobility of tomorrow to be experienced free of charge and makes fans mobile for the European Championship. Whether on two or four wheels, whether in Copenhagen or Rome: simply scan the QR code on the shirt and travel to the stadium at a reduced rate with Volkswagen mobility partners or free of charge with the new ID. 4 electric car to the stadium.
Avantgarde brought the Volkswagen Mobility Fanshirt to life at EURO 2020: From the idea to the implementation at the venues across Europe.
Part of the unique project were a total of 14 container set-ups in three different sizes for the eleven venues. Here, fans received one of the 130,000 mobility shirts and learned more about the Volkswagen brand. An innovative augmented reality experience allowed fans to become part of the German national team and take a photo with their idols. In order to offer every fan the right mobility, Avantgarde worked with 22 partners across Europe and brought the 225 vehicles of the Volkswagen Free Chauffeur fleet to the streets of Europe – making the EURO 2020 truly mobile through the Volkswagen Mobility Shirt.
